Gavi Begtrup, Ph.D. is an innovative leader who leverages his experience building and leading organizations to empower HOT leaders in the public and private sectors.
A serial-entrepreneur, CEO, scientist, and policy wonk, Dr. Begtrup brings his experience building and running innovative organizations to grow technology startups across the globe, spin innovations out of universities and research centers, and drive nonprofit missions. He was the Chief Executive Officer of Eccrine Systems, Inc., a medical device company that pioneered a new field of medical diagnostics, the founding board chair of the Cincinnati public school The Spencer Center, and a recent candidate for Mayor of Cincinnati.
Prior to his career as an entrepreneur, Dr. Begtrup was the Policy Advisor for Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and developed legislation in oversight of NASA, DOD, and other federal agencies. He also served as science and technology policy fellow at the National Academies of Science, where he currently serves as a committee member. Dr. Begtrup is the author of federal legislation as well as popular and scientific articles, and is a prolific inventor. Dr. Begtrup received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley and his B.S. from Western Kentucky University.
